The Private Pilot License (PPL) is your gateway to aviation. Whether you're aiming to fly for fun or beginning a commercial pilot career, the PPL provides the essential foundation for all future training.
What Is a PPL?
A Private Pilot License allows you to act as pilot-in-command of a single-engine aircraft for non-commercial purposes. It’s the first major milestone in any pilot’s journey.
Course Structure
Our PPL program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on flight training, structured to meet international standards (EASA, FAA, or ICAO – depending on your region).
Ground School (100–150 hours):
- Principles of flight
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Air law & ATC procedures
- Aircraft systems
- Flight planning & human performance
Flight Training (Minimum 45 hours):
- Dual instruction & solo flight
- Basic maneuvers
- Takeoffs & landings
- Emergency procedures
- Cross-country navigation
- Solo cross-country flight (minimum 150 nautical miles)
Entry Requirements
- Minimum age: 16 to begin training, 17 to be licensed
- Class 2 medical certificate
- English proficiency
- Basic mathematics and physics knowledge recommended
What You’ll Gain
Upon successful completion, you'll hold a Private Pilot License that enables you to:
- Fly solo or with passengers in visual flight conditions (VFR)
- Continue on to advanced training: IR, CPL, ME, and more
- Rent or own an aircraft for leisure flying

Propilotz aviation students train on a fleet of 70+ aircraft produced by Diamond Aircraft Industries, including the DA40 single-engine, DA42 twin-engine and DA20 single-engine aircraft.
Propilotz aviation offers two kinds of training programs, our flight training program and our aviation maintenance technician (AMT) apprenticeship program. Flight training can be done through the Professional Pilot Career Path Training Program or through our Collegiate Partnerships.
